ROPE COMPARISONS

Leather Rope

Leather ropes do turn more efficiently than most other ropes, but they do not come close to a Hyperformanceä Speed Rope, in producing lighting fast reflexes. The leather rope, even though it lacks such an important feature as adjustability, has been known as the best professional jump rope until now.

Beaded Rope

Beaded ropes consist of segmented beads, threaded onto a thin cotton rope. This rope is very visible to spectators and most  used in the sport of jump rope when performing basic skills at exhibitions. It is also helpful in getting athletes off to a jumping start. However, it will not help in improving hand or foot speed. Many times when the rope breaks the beads can fly everywhere creating a serious liability to by standers and spectators

You can adjust it by untying a knot in the handle and remove the necessary beads, before cutting the rope and tying a new knot.

Cotton & Nylon Rope

Cotton and nylon are poor materials when it comes to turning a jump rope. These rope materials create too much drag and are not functional for fitness or sports cross training.

Despite of how quickly you turn your wrists, these ropes won’t respond fast enough to benefit any athlete in his or her training program. They are the most inefficient of all ropes.

The cotton and nylon ropes are usually not adjustable.

Cable Rope

This can be a very fast rope, depending upon on the thickness of cable. It is not designed for arm cross movements or side swing to jump, only for straight on jumping, so it is not a very versatile rope.

It also poses a risk of serious injury when the jumpers miss or catch the rope while jumping at high speeds. The cable breaks easily. This rope is not adjustable.

Licorice Speed Rope

The thick cord PVC rope is a good basic speed rope for learning the basic jump rope skills and how to jump. It offers sufficient rope speeds but is not fast enough for improving reflexes for athletes in search for competitive  advantages in their sport.

This rope is not adjustable.

Heavy Rope

Heavy ropes are often proclaimed to be good for challenging the muscles in the arms and chest and when combined with a weight training program have helped to increase upper body strength. If an athlete is an unskilled jumper, injuries have been known to occur in the shoulders from an excessive centrifugal pull and/or improper turning of the rope. These ropes range in 3 to 10 lbs. It is more effective to do weight, resistance or calisthenics training to safely develop upper body strength. A medicine ball also provides good plyometrics exercises for the upper body. A heavy rope is limited in offering athletic benefits. A jump rope's main purpose should be to improve hand foot speed, quickness, agility, reaction time and cardiovascular fitness. A heavy rope will not allow you to move fast enough to receive these benefits and it restricts the time that you can perform continuous jumping. Neither is it adjustable.

Hyperformanceä Speed Rope

The World Best Performing Jump Ropes.  I recommend any of the Buddy Lee speed ropes.

bulletThey are designed for kid and adult athletes as well as for the fitness enthusiast.
bulletThe handles are designed for all size hands.
bulletThe patented swivel bearing system design allows it to turn with unmatched speed in all directions, with out the drag and friction present in other jump ropes.
bulletThese ropes can produce speeds up to 5 to 6 turns per second
bulletThe PVC cord is designed at the perfect weight to be aerodynamic, which further helps in responding to the athlete’s need for improved speed, quickness, agility and explosiveness.
bulletBecause it is aerodynamic, it is easy to control the rope swing with each jump, which makes it easy to learn with this rope
bulletThe Hyperformanceä Speed Rope has an innovative adjustment system that enables the athlete to adjust the rope to his or her height in a matter of seconds.
